West St Louis County



West St. Louis contains several communities including Eureka, Wildwood, Chesterfield, Ballwin, Ellisville, and Des Peres.

Eureka is located in the southernmost part of West County and is home to about 8,000 people. Eureka is well known for its Antique shops and is also home to the Six Flags St. Louis amusement park. For more information on Eureka, go to the Eureka Community Page.

Wildwood is located near Highway 100 and is in the western part of West County. Wildwood has is mostly residential except for its Town Center, which includes numerous shops and a grocery store. Chesterfield is located in the bottoms of West St Louis County and includes numerous large businesses from Wal-Mart and Target to the West County Shopping Mall. It also has lots of big name restaurants from the Olive Garden to Joe´s Crab Shack. This upscale community includes single family and attached homes.

Ballwin, located near Manchester Road in the middle of West County, has a diversified economic base, no municipal property tax and a low crime rate. Ballwin has quick acess to I-270, I-40 and I-44, Housing ranges in different styles and prices ranges, but offers well-maintained homes and a variety of attractive apartment and condominium complexes.

Ellisville is located between Highway 40 and Highway 44. This town has a population of approximately 9,200 and was incorporated in 1932, providing a public school district for the children of the area. Today, Ellisville maintains a well-balanced mix of residential and business developments. The area includes single-family homes, townhouses, apartments, duplexes and condominiums. Lot sizes vary from one-half to three acres.

Des Peres is also located in West County and is located near Highway 40 and Interstate 270. The town was incorporated in 1934 with a population at that time of 550. Today the city has grown to be home to over 8,000. This growth is largely due to residential development. Also, commercial development, such as the Westfield Shoppingtown West County have added to the city's growth.


West St Louis County offers many community celebrations each and every year. Ballwin features Ballwin Days. Ellisville has free "Concerts in the Park" at Bluebird Park on Thursday nights during the summer months. Manchester celebrates its homecoming the weekend after Labor Day. Wildwood residents enjoy Wildwood Days.

St. Louis was incorporated in 1823 and is one of the most historic cities in the United States known for its long standing French and German heritage and bright Victorian past. The city has several common nicknames, but it is mostly known for being the "Gateway to the West". In 2005, the population of Metro St. Louis was approximately 2,786,728 according to the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA).

St. Louis history held one of the greatest events, the 1904 World's Fair: the Louisiana Purchase Exposition held in Forest Park. The expansion of Forest Park was created largely in part due to the World's Fair event and remains an attraction today as many events are held there year round. You will also find the St Louis Zoo resting on on 77 acres in Forest Park.

The city has experienced great growth and tourism since the mid-1960s due to the Gateway Arch, (memorial to the Lewis and Clark expedition) and the newly built Busch Stadium in 2006, home of the Cardinals. St. Louis is also home to the Rams football team, which games are held in the Edward Jones Dome. The Scott Trade Center is home to the St. Louis Blues hockey team.


St. Louis is also home to the famous Blueberry Hill in the Loop, which includes a music club, restaurant and museum and offers monthly performances by Chuck Berry. St. Louis has other popular attractions like the Fox Theatre and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. St. Louis offers a wealth of history, attractions and culture, making it a great place to live the city life.
