Enjoying fair food and mingling with friends, acquaintances and neighbors at Eureka Days on Friday, I learned something new.

While at Eureka Days on Friday, a friend of my daughters that I frequently see at Blevins Elementary School heard me talking about listing a home. She was quick to question that with “Don’t you sell houses anymore?” And that made me realize that a title means more then we may think.

A title can mean more than you think. I have always called myself the Listing Agent for the Melanie Cooper Team. However, I’m not about listing homes, I’m about selling homes. Therefore, I should call myself a Selling Agent! Unfortunately in the terms of the National Association of Realtors, you are only a Selling Agent if you bring a Buyer into a transaction and you sell them a home that someone else has listed, also known as a Buyers Agent. It can be a little confusing and hence my desire to educate prospective sellers on exactly what I do.
